primary antagonist in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame,
sought to collect the six Infinity Stones—Space, Reality, Power, Soul, Mind,
and Time—to fulfill his ultimate goal: restoring balance to the universe. His
reasoning was rooted in his belief that unchecked population growth leads to
scarcity of resources, causing suffering and destruction. Thanos proposed a
controversial solution: to eliminate half of all life in the universe randomly,
ensuring prosperity for the survivors.
Thanos’s
actions and philosophy are driven by a warped sense of altruism. He genuinely
believes that his plan is merciful and just, as it avoids favoritism and offers
equal chances of survival for all. For Thanos, collecting the Infinity Stones
was the only way to wield the absolute power required to execute his plan
instantaneously and across the entire cosmos.
The Justification Behind His Actions
- A Lesson from His Home Planet:Thanos’s ideology stems from his experiences on his home planet, Titan. He proposed a similar solution to his people when resources dwindled and overpopulation became unsustainable. His plan was dismissed as cruel and barbaric, leading to the eventual collapse of Titan. authoritarian solutions.
